The Shoreline is looking to expand our Allied Health team with the addition of a Part Time Podiatrist. This position will increase the service offering for our elderly and will share our overarching CREED:

About The Role:

 

The Podiatrist is responsible for working under the direction of our Director of Care, however will work autonomously to service our residents in accordance with their treatment plans and to maximise the quality of care offered. The podiatrist is responsible for offering the full suite of podiatry services to our residents in the aged care facility as well as those residing in the independent living units.

The podiatrist liaises directly with care service providers including the Director of Care, Deputy Directors of Care, Senior Physiotherapist, and Quality Coordinator to provide the services that complement care plans and maximise quality patient outcomes in line with the AN-ACC funding model and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Standards. They will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and implement interventions to improve the mobility, function, and comfort of our residents.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

STANDARDS FOR PRACTICE

1. Ensure all behaviour, communication, documentation, and practice is consistent with relevant legislation: The Vision, Purpose, Values, Creed, Service Delivery Model, Model of Care, Privacy and Confidentiality, Work Health and Safety, Quality Management and policies and procedures.

2. Meet the Aged Care Quality Standards requirements when planning and delivering services.

3. Complete documentation in an accurate and timely manner.

4. Adhere to policy, procedures, and practice to ensure The Shoreline operates personal and clinical care in accordance with the legislation, regulation, the Aged Care Quality Standards (ACQS), The Shoreline’s service delivery mode, model of care and best practice.

5. Deliver care in accordance with the needs, goals, and preference of the resident. This includes delivering care in a way that promotes wellbeing, choice, and independence.

6. Model and adhere to professional standards and conduct and take steps as an Allied health professional to ensure a healthy workplace culture.

7. You will not, without authority: employ or dismiss staff; approve capital accounts; involve

The Shoreline in legal proceedings; grant any wage increases; or make media statements.

 

PERSONAL AND CLINICAL CARE AND SERVICES

8. Provide Primary care Podiatry including: dermatological care, wound and ulcer management, dressings, nail and fracture care

9. Continuously monitor and assess the podiatry needs of residents and adjust individual programs as required to maximise resident outcomes

10. Under direction of the physiotherapist, transport residents safely to and from their appointments

11. Provide podiatry services in a way that respects individual dignity and privacy

12. Provide services and treatments in accordance with ACFI/AN-ACC and clinical requirements

13. Provide high-quality customer service to all external and internal customers

14. Pro-actively identify and communicate risks associated with clinical care and act to report and manage risk

15. Provide person centred care, advocating for resident/representative’s choice so they are supported to make informed choices

16. Fulfil duty of care to all residents and respond appropriately to unsafe or unprofessional practice

17. Treat all residents with dignity and respect

18. Interact with residents in a kind, caring and respectful manner

19. Respect and support resident’s gender, identity and culture and take steps to make sure all residents feel included in care and service delivery

20. Support all residents to make informed choices about care and services by providing information or by seeking assistance from other sources

21. Assist residents to remain connected with their local communities

22. Actively support residents to give feedback and make complaints

About You:

 

As someone with a proven track record of compassion, you will demonstrate kindness and empathy with the elderly and other diverse individuals. You will possess an intuitive responsiveness to aged care residents' and provide expertise in providing to their wants and needs.

 

To succeed in this role you will need the following skills and attributes:

  • Essential

  •  

    Bachelor or Post Graduate Degree in Podiatry or Podiatric Medicine

  • Current registration with AHPRA

  • Demonstrated ability to implement evidence-based practice in common care delivery

  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and professionally with limited supervision

  • Ability to work in a multi-skilled team environment and to communicate effectively with management, staff and stakeholders, including medical and other allied health professionals

  • Highly developed organisational skills and ability to determine work priorities
    Understanding of the ageing process and a commitment to advocate for older people in residential care

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software and other desktop applications to an intermediate level

  • Police check clearance
